Tips: How to Utilize Your Orchards

Author Major Category ,

In FarmVille, folks have a way of gaining Crop Mastery a little bit easier by using Bushels before harvesting their Crops. For instance, if you are harvesting Long Onions, using a Long Onion Bushel before you harvest will give you a Double Mastery effect, turning 300 harvests into 600 harvests with the click of a button. Unfortunately, nothing like this exists for Trees in FarmVille, and doubled with the fact that some 5 day Trees — even some of the 2 day Limited Edition FV Cash Trees — could take forever to Master, it can be hard to find shortcuts to Tree Mastery.

But we here at FarmVille Post dedicate ourselves to making all of our readers better and/or smarter players; after all, what’s the point if you’re not maximizing your efforts? That is why we have compiled this little article full of tips on how to get the most from your Trees in legitimate ways. All of these strategies are relevant as of March 6, 2011.

Tip 1: Build Orchards – and lots of them. This is probably the most basic tip that we can give, but it is the most crucial. By having 20+ Orchards, you can truly maximize your potential for not only Tree Mastery, but for gaining additional Coins, as well.

Tip 2: Separate your Trees in each Orchard. If you have a Limited Edition Tree, keep it separately from your other Trees. For example: if you bought three Hazelnut Trees, try keeping just one in three different Orchards. The reason for this is that the amount of Trees within an Orchard do not have any impact on whether or not you receive a Mystery Seedling; it is the same odds at 1/20 Trees as it is for 20/20, and if you receive three Mystery Seedlings from those three Orchards, all three are guaranteed to grow up into premium Hazelnut Trees.

Tip 3: If you are running out of room for Orchards, you can compile your Level 1 and Level 2 Trees of the same type together, as they will all produce the same Mystery Seedling. For example, combining your Chestnut Trees and Hazelnut Trees within the same Orchard will give you more space and produce only Mystery Seedlings that become Hazelnut Trees, as the Chestnut Tree is the Level 1 version of that Tree type’s lineage, while the Hazelnut Tree is its Level 2 evolution.

Tip 4: When you are purchasing new Trees on the FarmVille Market, try to only purchase Level 1 Trees if you are on a budget. When a new Limited Edition FV Cash Tree comes out and you want both the Level 1 and Level 2 versions, purchase only the Level 1 Tree. Place it inside of an Orchard by itself and you will have a chance to receive a Mystery Seedling for the Level 2 Tree the next time you harvest it. For example, if it were the case for last week, you would purchase the Sour Apple Tree and store it in an Orchard by itself to create free Giant Sour Apple Trees. Cool, huh?

Tip 5: Orchards can be harvested once every 2 days, meaning that even 5 day Trees such as the Key Lime Tree or the Pomegranate Tree can be harvested in only 2 days once it is placed within an Orchard. This will allow you to gain Tree Mastery (and additional Coins) 2.5 times faster than you would if you kept them outside of an Orchard.

Tip 6: Let’s say you have Mastered the Cuban Banana Tree – the Level 2 equivalent of the Banana Tree – but you still need to Master the Banana Tree, and let’s say you have done the same for the Golden Plum Tree but you still need to Master the Plum Tree. Keeping them in an Orchard will help you Master them faster and gain more Coins, but those pesky Mystery Seedlings will become Trees that you have already Mastered or you simply do not want too many duplicates of. Keeping these Trees in an Orchard or two as opposed to scattered throughout your farm will reduce the amount of “bad” Mystery Seedlings you will receive. Remember: scatter the Limited Edition Trees, but keep the common Trees in bulk so you do not waste those Watering Cans.

Tip 7: Unless you are aiming for Mystery Seedlings, you need not place 2 day Trees inside of Orchards. For example, if you have Mastered the Rainier Cherry Tree, there is no point in storing Cherry Trees or Rainier Cherry Trees inside of the Orchards; Cherry Trees are 2 day Trees, so you gain nothing in terms of speeding up the Mastery, and both of those Trees produce Mystery Seedlings to make more Rainier Cherry Trees.

Tip 8: If you have claimed a Tree from your friend’s Facebook feed, did you know that you can place it inside of an Orchard that is already ready to be harvested and it will automatically make that specific Tree 100% ready? This is a nice way to speed up your Tree Mastery. Try this with Trees sitting around your farm, as well; if your Orchard is 78% ready, and your Lime Tree is 44% ready, you can place it inside of the Orchard without fear of the Orchard’s readiness dropping from 78%.

Tip 9: There is no reason to keep Level 2 Trees inside of Orchards that you have already Mastered, seeing as how there are currently no Level 3 Trees available in the game. Sometimes you can find a good reason to keep Level 1 Trees inside of an Orchard; let’s say you have Mastered the Peach Tree, but you still need a lot of Elberta Peach Trees. By keeping Peach Trees in your Orchards, you can receive Mystery Seedlings that can give you additional Elberta Peach Trees.
