News: New Collections Arrive

Author Major Category ,

FarmVille has unleashed a sophisticated new Collections system today! Let’s get right down to it!

null

Upon logging in, you will be greeted with a screen like the one above, rewarding you by laying out additional Coins and XP for all of you have collected in the past. Out with the old and in with the new, however, as a brand new Collection system, complete with different tiers of success for each Collection, is now implemented in the game.

How it works is rather simple: every time you gain new pieces for these rebuffed Collections, be it from farming, checking your Trees, or as gifts from neighbors, they will automatically be stored within your Collections. Once you have completed a Collection, you will level that specific Collection up to a higher level. The third level of every Collection has a great new prize, ranging from Pumpkin Pigs to Rainbow Cows to Flowery Cows to Cherry Blossom Trees to Zesty Ponies.

null

Three Common items, one Uncommon item, and one Rare item are needed for each of the six new Collections. Once you have reached the height of success, it seems that the prizes will start over again, giving you plenty of opportunities to get more of the Cows, Ponies, and Trees as you go, along with all of the other goodies.

Here is a list of every reward:

Berries: Fertilize All (Level 1), Berry Crate (Level 2), White Cherry Blossom Tree (Level 3)

Citrus: Arborists (Level 1), Citrus Archway (Level 2), Zesty Pony (Level 3)

Cows: Fuel (Level 1), Flower Cow Topiary (Level 2), Rainbow Cow (Level 3)

Flowers: Coins (Level 1), Flower Basket (Level 2), Flowery Cow (Level 3)

Grains: Coins (Level 1), Wheat Scarecrow (Level 2), Spring Watermill (Level 3)

Squash: Arborists (Level 1), Gourd Gnome (Level 2), Pig Pumpkin (Level 3)

Are you excited about these changes? We are!

News: New Collections Coming Soon

Author Major Category ,

Along with today’s updates comes a new notice regarding the arrival of a new system for Collections, allowing users to get prizes that they will actually want – including new Ponies and Cows!

null

As you can see by the image above, included in the upcoming Collection overhaul will be a new Cow that is rainbow patterned, as well as a new Pony with an orange mane that resembles the Pink and Purple Ponies of old. This is the first return to these types of Ponies since before the English Countryside’s arrival. Also included with the new Collections is a new watermill, a new scarecrow, and a crate full of berries.

No word on when this new stuff will drop, but we will keep you posted at the Post!

New Items: Kangaroo & Joey, and Polar Bear Cub

Author Major Category , ,

Let’s say dear ol’ Mom is big on something a little cuddlier than Magnolia Trees. Well, you might find some luck under the Animals tab!

null

First up is the lone new addition under the Animals tab for the week, but it truly is a memorable entry for that mother-and-offspring bond. After all, how much closer can you get to your Mom than living in a pouch designed to hold you? Thank goodness humans aren’t like that, that’d be way too creepy. This is the Kangaroo & Joey combo, which you can purchase as of right now for 16 FV Cash, the perfect price for a pair of adorable new exotic Animals. The Joey sticks its head out from the pouch while the Mom simply waits around, likely waiting to yell at Dad. We recommend this one. And yes, a normal Kangaroo, which looks different in color, was previously available in FarmVille.

null

And here is our returning item from yester-year, the long lost Polar Bear Cub from back during the Earth Day celebration. We guess this revival from the Market graveyard is in honor of giving Mom a cuddly teddy bear – only this one is near extinction. Still, it seems slightly out of place during a Mother’s Day theme, don’t ya think? Regardless, it is a cute, albeit curious entry into this specific theme. You can own this little guy for 22 FV Cash, the same as when it was originally introduced.

Are you buying either of these items this week, or are you saving your Cash up?

New Items: Magnolia Tree and Purple Magnolia Tree

Author Major Category , ,

Along with the brand new Pink Carnation Crop that is available for a Limited Time, there are a brand new pair of Trees on the Market, to boot!

null

This is the Magnolia Tree, and it certainly looks different from the previously-released pink Magnolia Tree from yester-year. That Tree, of course, could not be collected from, meaning it could not be Mastered. This new Magnolia Tree is fully Masterable, and is white with a very slight purple hue. Simply put, this is a must-own Tree for fans of Mastery in any variety. We specifically love the light tint of the bark, which looks entirely original. This might be the best Tree in all of FarmVille, truthfully. It costs 5 FV Cash and is worth every dollar.

null

The Level 2 edition of the Magnolia Tree is the Purple Magnolia Tree. Remember where we stated that the Level 1 Magnolia Tree had a purple hue? Well, it becomes the predominant color is its evolved form, bursting with glorious color to make a memorable Tree. The bark on this version is slightly darker, but certainly just as vibrant as a whole. These Trees are the bee’s knees, if you don’t mind our rhyming compliments. They both share the usual Limited Edition stats: 75 harvests to the first level of Mastery, takes two days to be ready and gives you 150 Coins per harvest. This one will cost you 10 FV Cash.

Our verdict is clear: these are two of the best Trees in FarmVille’s history.

New Items: Humming Birds, Mom Day Gnome, and More

Author Major Category , , ,

Finally, amidst all of the cool Mother’s Day items lies an incredibly beefy Decorations tab! Let’s take a looksee.

null

Now this is a cool Decoration. This is dubbed the Humming Birds, and is definitely worth taking a gamble on. This one has the coolest animations we have seen for an animal in years – possibly ever – as the hummingbirds truly look as if they are real with their jagged movements and sharp turns. Three hummingbirds hover over this Decoration, varying in color between green, red, and blue, and zip around gleefully. This is unique and absolutely gorgeous, making it one of the best Decorations in months. It’s available for 12 FV Cash, and is definitely worth the admission price.

null

What better way to thank Mom than with a butler to serve her breakfast in bed? Well, he might be a tiny, inanimate Gnome, but we suppose it’s the sentiment that counts, right? While you surely cannot afford the task of hiring a real butler, this Mom Day Gnome may have to suffice. As you can see, he is carrying a tray containing juice, a sandwich, and a lovely vase of flowers. This one will cost you only 10 FV Cash, down from the usual 15-18 FV Cash that Gnomes usually cost. You’ll get 1,000 EXP for the purchase.

null

Next up, we have a couple of Decorations that vary in price range. On the left is the Dahlia Flowerbed, a beautiful flower that’s cozy inside of a square, pink base. We love the variety in these flowers, but every time we see a brand new flower used in a Decoration, we can’t help but want it as a Crop. It costs 5,000 Coins. To the right is the Mom’s Gift Basket, which is available for 1 FV Cash this week. This is a nifty option for those of you who feel the need to cheer up a friend, buy something as a “Get Well” present, or just flirt with a neighbor, providing multiple uses for a simple Decoration.

null

For some less ambiguous items on the Decorations tab this week for Mother’s Day, we have the Mom Day Sign II to the left and the Mom’s Day Sign to the right. The funny thing here is that the FV Cash entry, the Mom’s Day Sign, is nowhere near as cute or cool as the Coin option, the Mom Day Sign II. As you can see, some adorable birds are cuddling above the word “Mom” on the Mom Day Sign II, which is available for 80,000 Coins this week only. The Mom’s Day Sign is available for 2 FV Cash, and features a nice variety of in-game flowers surrounding a big heart. We much prefer the Coin option to the FV Cash option!

That concludes tonight’s update. We will be working on that piece regarding FV addiction tomorrow, so stay tuned for that!

New Item: Outdoor Spa

Author Major Category

There is but one new item on the Buildings tab, but it’s a rad one!

null

Now this is a spa we can get behind! We truly do love the design of the Crafting Building of the name Spa, as it has a sleek, contemporary art deco design that is easy on the eyes while also remaining flamboyantly modern.  This Outdoor Spa, however, leaves the artsy at the door and kicks up the chic fashion sense for the bored housewife of Orange County.

The Outdoor Spa is a brilliant design, combining tan fixtures such as relaxing chairs with the predominant browns that go along with the “porch” atmosphere. This clashes somewhat with the white exterior of the Building, but lends itself well to the black, windowed rooftop. We particularly enjoy the cute cucumber that adorns the front of the structure, as it’s a signature of sorts for the Outdoor Spa.

Should you decide to take the plunge for the Outdoor Spa, which we recommend for farmers who have more of a city flair, it will cost you 20 FV Cash. The purchaser will receive 2,000 EXP for making such a wise choice.

New Item: Pink Carnation Crop

Author Major Category

Just as we expected, a brand new Crop has arrived in FarmVille in tonight’s update!

null

This is the Pink Carnation, as we figured would arrive in tonight’s update, given the four brand new Crafts that were accidentally introduced in last night’s update. You see, each of those four Crafts had “Pink Carnation” in the title, so we figured a new Crop would be introduced in order to fully integrate the new Crop into the game.

The Pink Carnation Crop is a hefty one, costing but 11 Coins to plant per plot and giving back 111 every time you harvest, making it a 100 net profit Crop amongst the 1 day Crops in the game’s large, expansive roster. As we already know, the Pink Carnation is used in four Crafts – one for each Crafting Building – and it can be Mastered, to boot.

Are you excited to see this new addition to FarmVille?

News: Four Pink Carnation Crafts Arrive

Author Major Category , ,

It seems that four brand new recipes have hit the Crafting Buildings tonight in what looks to be a premature update!

Each of the four Crafting Buildings received a new recipe, and each recipe revolves around the inclusion of carnations. Could we be seeing a new Carnation Crop in the near future, or is this merely a coincidence? After all, each of the new recipes can be made without any new Crop involved, but we have a feeling that will change after seeing that the Bakery’s Candied Pink Carnations can be made with 2 Sugar Cane Bushels and… uh… 4 Sugar Cane Bushels. It certainly seems like it’s a glitch. For those curious, we were able to make six of the Pink Carnation Tea Crafts in our Pub, so these definitely seem active!

Here are the Crafts:

null

Candied Pink Carnation (Bakery)

null

Pink Carnation Perfume (Spa)

null

Pink Carnation Vinegar (Winery)

null

Pink Carnation Tea (Pub)

Stay tuned for more on all of these new Crafts as we figure it out!

News: FV Cash for Level Up from Level 1-250

Author Major Category

For all of you long-time farmers, such as ourselves, we’ve got some good news to spread on this Wednesday afternoon.

null

It seems as if Zynga is now allowing farmers to receive FV Cash from Level 1 through Level 250. That should definitely cheer some folks up who have been bummed out that they can no longer receive the usual 1 FV Cash per level up once they have surpassed Level 100. As for beyond Level 250… Let’s not even bother worrying about it. We’ve been playing legitimately since July 2009 and we’re at Level 110. We’re pretty sure it’s impossible to be Level 250 without cheating at this point in the game.

Are you happy about this policy change within FarmVille? Let us know!

News: Storage Updated

Author Major Category ,

One of the biggest improvements in FarmVille’s history is going on right as we type this.

null

You see, FarmVille has updated the Storage system in the game, allowing us to finally be able to sort through our plethora of goodies that have been long-tucked away in our Storage facility. The categories that greet us when we enter our Storage are the following: All, Trees, Animals, Buildings, and Decorations. Some of the tabs have additional sub-categories to select from, such as Landscaping under the Decorations tab, which will quickly bring up your pieces of Fence that you have lying around in your Storage, making it easier than ever to access all of your stuff that you’ve got hid away in there.

null

Two of the categories, Animals and Trees, currently pop up as “Coming Soon.” We’re incredibly happy that we will be able to soon store some of the less-desirable-but-we-do-not-want-to-abandon-them Animals on our farm, and store Trees that we have already Mastered but do not wish to delete or sell. This is still in the works, but as you can see, it should arrive very soon.

Are you as excited by these improvements as we are? This is a dream come true in making FarmVille accessible.

New Items: Exmoor Pony and Hereford Cow

Author Major Category , ,

Elsewhere in tonight’s Market update, we’ve got a few interesting Animal selections.

null

This is the brand new Horse on the Market this week, the Exmoor Pony. This one, as you can tell by both the looks and the name, resembles the Dartmoor Pony that was released not too long ago. It is not the same exact model, however, as this one looks a little less cartoon-y and features less shag on the ‘do. It is a Pony, which means it is a relatively small Horse by most comparisons. It will cost folks 24 FV Cash, which is a reasonable price for a cool, new Horse. It does produce its own Foal, to boot. Give this one a try if you’re a Horse lover.

null

Likewise, it seems that a brand new Cow has hit the Market, as well. Horses and Cows are a key ingredient to FarmVille’s addicting success, so it’s nice to see two new ones that are not buried within the Mystery Game. This is the Hereford Cow, which incredibly closely resembles one of our all-time favorite Cows, the Simmental Cow – it’s just missing the bell around its neck, a key component to its ensemble. Unfortunately, we feel like this new Hereford Cow is a bit on the bland side, what with its basic Cow pattern and all. It resembles the average FarmVille Cow, just on the Simmental Model. We cannot recommend this new Cow due to this and the hefty price tag of 22 FV Cash, one that we would usually pay without question for Cows; unfortunately, this time around it looks a little too similar to its brethren.

Keep it dialed in to FarmVille Post!

Mystery Game: May 1, 2011

Author Major Category

The Mystery Game this week takes a look at some of FarmVille’s very best Animals, as it is a “Best Of” Mystery Game! Each dart will cost 16 FV Cash.

null

In a surprise twist, the recently-released Thoroughbred Stallion has made a return as the top prize in the Mystery Game. Yep, you read that right: Stallion — as in, Permanent Stallion. Plugging this fellow into your Horse Stable will allow you to produce Foals, EXP, Arborists, and Farmhands, as well as additional Coin bonuses for your neighbors to collect. Beyond that, the dude’s a stud, with an original model type that set him apart from the rest of the pack when he was released back in March. We love the great color scheme, as the blacks/deep browns look terrific against its white hooves. This is the definition of a Rare Mystery Game item.

null

Now here is an item that received an upgrade since last time: the Teacup Pig. Originally, the Teacup Pig was an Uncommon item in the Mystery Game, but due to the arrival of Pig Breeding, the Teacup Pig has been deemed a Rare item. Well, this returning Pig, dubbed the Teacup Pig, is absolutely adorable and should provide a ton of variety due to its crazy amount of colors. Pig Breeders, take notice of this really cool returning piggy.

null

The first Uncommon of the week is the other decorative Animal haven, the Butterfly Fountain. Do not let the fact that this one cannot be collected from fool you, it is also an absolute winner in every sense of the word. If you love fancy fountains that catch the eye of your friends and neighbors, prepare to fall in love with this one, which features a couple of gorgeous blue butterflies fluttering around the flowing water. The most impressive part of its design is the rainbow of colors that grace its base. This is a definitive keeper.

null

Now here is a true blast from the past: the Blue Jay. Much like the Butterfly-related items in this Mystery Game, the Blue Jay is strictly decorative, offering nothing in terms of collecting from it. It does have the always-appreciated “Fly!” option under its drop box, and it should complement our collection of Cardinals very well. We missed the Blue Jay when it originally appeared in FarmVille long, long ago, so we’re pleased with the option to receive it as an Uncommon item in the Mystery Game.

null

Speaking of butterflies, here is yet another ancient item in this week’s Mystery Game in the form of a decorative piece that is simply dubbed “Butterflies.” Again, this is strictly decorative, meaning that it will not provide you with any type of harvest and will not be “Ready.” That said, this is a really cool old school item that fans have been longing for for quite some time. We love hiding stuff like this behind lakes or ponds to give the illusion that the butterflies are flying above the pond rather than the bush that they’re actually hovering over.

null

Way back when, around the time that the Mystery Game first started up, it was the Mystery Chest. It eventually evolved into the Mystery Box, and then became the Mystery Game as we know it today. When it was the Mystery Chest, the second Animal that was ever available in the entire thing’s history was the Alpaca. It returns today as a Common entry in the Mystery Game. This Animal has quite the history in FarmVille, which we suppose goes without saying, making it a must-own for die-hard FarmVille fans.

We will be back this week with tons of other FarmVille coverage!

New Items: Castle Tower and Knight’s Store

Author Major Category , , , ,

What better way to kick off the awesome Buildings tab update than with a cool new Coin item?

null

If there is one thing we hear from our readers more than anything else, it is that they want more items available for Coins in FarmVille. We also love it when our readers have a reason to smile, hence why we’re always super stoked to present you with good news: here is the awesome Castle Tower Building, available strictly for 250,000 Coins. This cool structure can be placed in back of smaller Buildings to look as if it is an incredibly tall tower that overlooks your farm in attachment with whatever you place around it, making it ideal for layering your farm and manipulating the view of your property. Yes, it can be rotated, and it will give you 2,500 EXP for the purchase.

null

Now, if you’ve got some FV Cash to burn and you’re in the market for a new decorative Building to throw on your farm, there are certainly worse options than the Knight’s Store, the latest storefront in the English Countryside theme. This one has the usual Shakespearean design gracing the trim of the outer walls of the Building, but the main draws here are the large crest that sits atop the second floor and, of course, the pair of knights in armor that protect the front door. Hey, now that’s what we call home security! This one costs 20 FV Cash, which seems about right. It can be rotated, and it’ll give you 2,000 EXP upon purchase.

The Decorations tab is up next, followed by the Mystery Game!

New Items: Hawthorne Tree and Midland Hawthorne Tree

Author Major Category , ,

On the eve of President Obama’s announcement that the United States has killed terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, it seems a little hollow to be speaking of virtual animals and crops. Tonight marks the end of an era for world history, so please take a little time to reflect on those we have lost over the past decade due to the monstrosity who has been confirmed to have perished.

null

Back to the world of virtual farming, it seems a couple of new Trees have hit the Market tonight. We are straying from the make-believe Trees in favor of some new real-life ones, including the Level 1 Hawthorne Tree. This wicked little Tree is stout and spreads off into many directions almost similarly to a Bonsai Tree. Of course we are excited about this new entry into FarmVille due to it being a cute addition, as well as a cheaper alternative since it costs 5 FV Cash. We were beginning to become upset by the rising cost of Trees, but it seems as if the trend has been quelled.

null

This little devil began popping up in the Mystery Seedlings this week, so you may have seen it on a neighbor’s feed or something similar. This is the Midland Hawthorne Tree, one of the few Limited Edition Level 2 variations that are like its Level 1 counterpart. Rather than branching out sporadically, this one seems to cut off like a fork in the road. The growing greenery also resembles puffy clouds rather than your typical Tree design. We actually like this design more than its Level 1 iteration, but still recommend buying the Level 1 and growing your own in the Orchards. It costs 10 FV Cash and shares the same stats as the Hawthorne Tree: 150 Coins per harvest, which is once every two days, and 75 harvests to reach level one of Mastery.

Keep it tuned to FarmVille Post throughout the night!

News: Another Sheep Breeding Update

Author Major Category , , ,

Zynga has updated their blog with the following official information:

Hey Farmers,

We have been made aware that current in-game messaging regarding Sheep Breeding is inaccurate and confusing to our customers. This messaging implies that the success rate for color/pattern inheritance is 100% guaranteed, when in fact, it is not.

This messaging was unintentional, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion or frustration.

The text will be updated to reflect the feature’s intended design as soon as possible. If you purchased a Ram and/or Ewe from the Market under the assumption that the success rate was guaranteed due to this messaging, please contact our CS department and they will refund your account accordingly. (This means your purchased Rams and/or Ewes will be removed, and the equivalent amount of Farm Cash will be restored to your account.)

Due to the volume of emails from customers during this time, it may take longer than normal for a CS agent to assist you, but they will respond to your request as soon as they are able.

Breeding and White Sheep:

Please know that the intended design of this feature was never a 100% success rate for color/pattern inheritance. We have seen reports from the community indicating that prior to the release of Pig Breeding, the pattern inheritance success rate (from Rams) was unusually high (80 – 100% success rate). This was a bug and the feature is now functioning as intended.

We have also seen reports from players indicating that an unusually high amount of White Sheep are being produced when breeding. As white is a color, it is possible to produce white sheep when the feature is operating normally.

However, we are investigating player reports to determine if more white sheep are being produced than anticipated. Please know that this process is not an easy one and will take time for us to address.

Chameleon Sheep only producing White Sheep:

Currently, the Chameleon Ewe and Rainbow Dots Ram are producing almost exclusively plain white sheep. This is a bug that we are actively working to resolve. We will be releasing a fix for the Chameleon Ewe and Rainbow Dots Ram sometime this week which will result in the color/pattern inheritance success rates to be on par with the other Rams/Sheep in the game.

As always, we appreciate your feedback! If you would like to share any thoughts or opinions, please make sure to follow the FarmVille Forum Rules and Rules of Conduct when posting

Thanks!

Will you be happy once this hoopla is over with? Sure ya will, as will we, that way we can start pumping out some good news for all instead of the usual, dreary stuff.

New Items: Misty Lake, Black Knight Gnome, and More

Author Major Category , , , ,

To conclude the new Market items tonight, let’s take a look at the new Decorations before wrapping up our coverage with the Best Of Mystery Game!

null

Let us begin with the most expensive option exclusively under the Decorations tab tonight in the Misty Lake. This is one of the better Decorations to surface throughout FarmVille in recent memory. We’re fans of beds of water for our personal farm, so we’re slightly bias in calling this one original; sure, it is a relatively plain lake, what with the usual fare surrounding the water itself in trees, rocks, shrubs, etcetera, but the cool thing that pictures cannot convey is how sleek the fog looks as it lingers over the water, shuffling back and forth. This is a great Decoration for 18 FV Cash, but features no rotation due to the cool animation. It’ll give you 1,800 EXP upon purchase.

null

Elsewhere on the FV Cash front is a new addition to the Gnome collection, albeit one that is of the painted-over variety. Everybody knows and loves the Knight Gnome, but this one is his dark brethren in the Black Knight Gnome, a legendary warrior who is both feared and revered amongst his peers. Lots of rhymes aside, we do enjoy this paint job of a Gnome. It costs 15 FV Cash, and is definitely worth it if you’re a Gnome collector. After all, who doesn’t love the black knight?

null

This is the premium Coin item of this Sunday’s update on the Decorations, the Court Yard Fountain. It may seem like a trivial complaint, but we feel as if the animation of the rolling water from the fountain looks a little off; we like the actual design of the water, which looks cloudy due to the concrete fountain’s interior, but it seems a little fake when it’s in motion. Still, the design looks vintage English with the stone lions overlooking the flowing waters. It costs 120,000 Coins and gives the user 1,200 EXP for the purchase.

null

To conclude the Decorations tab, we will take a look at both a new awesome Coin item and a great new fence. To start, the Castle Wall is the perfect gating to house in anything Castle-related, or even your Home farm’s normal look, if you’re adamantly against the inclusion of ivy or any type of moss growing on the fencing. It’s clean, it’s gorgeous, and it’s 10,000 Coins per slice. As for the Lion Stature, it is the perfect complement to the many free Quest statues that you receive during your English Countryside questing adventures. Might we recommend placing it alongside a museum-type of Building? It costs 50,000 Coins, so the option to place multiples on your farm is certainly there.

The Mystery Game review is coming up!
