New Items: Spring Egg Trees

It is time for some brand new items on the Wednesday evening Market update!

Ahh, now here is what we reported on yesterday. Previously reported as the Cream Egg Tree, this is the Spring Egg Tree, a nice little pseudo-Easter meta-theme with the Trees. These eggs might look like just your normal, average eggs nestled in the canopy of a high tree… well, not so much normal – more like pterodactyl eggs or something, because they are huuuuge! Still, they look rather boring, but once they’re ready, they will be entirely colored and varied, making it one of the prettiest Trees in FarmVille when it is ready to be harvested. This one is more expensive at 7 FV Cash, up from the typical 5 FV Cash.

Oy, we thought these Giant Trees were over with. We were spoiled with all of the cool Level 2 Trees, so color us disappointed at the return of Giant Trees, especially for such a cool concept. We’d love to see a Chocolate Bunny Tree or something as the Level 2 Tree instead. This one is a little larger than its Level 1 counterpart, and costs 12 FV Cash instead of the usual 10 FV Cash. It shares the same statistics as the Level 1 Tree, being 75 harvests to reach Level 1 of Tree Mastery, and it gives 150 Coins to you upon harvest, which is once every two days.

New Items: English Mill and Spring Cottage

To all of you folks complaining about the overabundance of FV Cash items on the Market as of late, it looks like Zynga has listened to your statements and have delivered a very expensive, very lovely Coin item under the Buildings tab tonight with the introduction of the Spring Cottage, another item that is technically on the English Countryside theme, yet crosses over into the newly introduced Spring theme. We really enjoy the quaint look of this one, as it truly resembles a Building you can find across the countryside of England. You will be able to purchase this ivy-ridden Building for 350,000 Coins, good for 3,500 EXP. This one can be rotated.

Now, if you are searching for additional FV Cash Building, we do have a lovely returning structure that certainly matches our Home farm perfectly: the English Mill. This is a completely animated Building, as the watermill beside the homely structure, as it constantly pulls in water. The animations on the water are not that great, but we are just happy it is facing southeast instead of southwest, as it cannot be rotated. We love the cobblestone look crawling with ivy, too. This is a winner, even at 25 FV Cash, good for 2,500 EXP.

How-to: Spring Basket

It has been a long, busy day full of emergency veterinarian visits and general chaos at the FarmVille Post HQ, so we apologize on the delay of this new How-to for this holiday’s iteration of the collect-a-thon, the Spring Basket!

Step 1: Do you recall the Flowers we have been collecting from our Spring Garden on a nightly basis? Well, it seems they finally have a purpose. You will find a plethora of Flowers throughout FarmVille on your neighbors’ Facebook pages and the like, and you likely have a ton in your inboxes anyway. Now you will finally have a place to store them! When you see the above screen, you will be in placement mode. Feel free to drop that Spring Basket anywhere you wish on your farm.

Step 2: After plopping it down, we will have our first glance at what we can redeem our Flowers for! Much like the St. Patrick’s and Valentine’s Day holidays before it, the Spring Basket is a source of collectibles. You deposit your Flowers that you receive from friends and neighbors into the Spring Basket, and once you have accumulated enough of the Flowers, you can redeem them for one of the following prizes: Spring Arch (5 Flowers), Flower Fountain (30 Flowers), Flower Tower (65 Flowers), Yellow Duck (130 Flowers), Yellow Patch Cow (225 Flowers), and the Flower Sheep (299 Flowers).

Step 3: In order to get all six of these items (we doubt there will be a second tier to the items list, given the three premium Animals available from the get-go), you will need to collect a lot of Flowers. As you can see from the picture above, all of your Flowers in your inventory will be placed within your Spring Basket when you click the “Use” button from your Gift Box.

Step 4: So you’ll need a bundle of Flowers in order to get these prizes, so how do you get Flowers? There are many ways:

1) Claim them from your neighbors on the Facebook feed whenever they share them.

2) Send them to your friends from the Free Gifts page in hopes of getting some back.

3) Harvest your Spring Garden every day.

4) Click on the “Ask for More” button right below where your total number of Flowers is located inside of the Spring Basket.

What is your favorite item in the Spring Basket? We suspect that Sheep will be a hot item due to the expansion of Sheep Breeding to both farms!

New Items: Spring Pond, Stone Pieces, and More

It’s the Decorations tab! We are once again celebrating the English Countryside theme this week, and you can expect plenty of smaller Decorations on the Market rather than big, bulky, animated ones.

But first, let us touch on the big animated piece of this Sunday evening update: the Spring Pond. This one has a bit of an identity crisis, as it seems to be both an English Countryside and Spring item. Simply put, we love this one and have decided to make it a stalwart part of our recently remodeled original farm! It features a lovely stone Duck in the center of the body of water, with very slight rippling waves across the pool itself. We particularly love the vast arrangement of flora throughout the piece, and the fact that it does not take up much space on our overcrowded farm. This one is 20 FV Cash, which is too expensive, but we will recommend it anyway. You will receive 2,000 EXP if you purchase the Spring Pond.

We have a duo of smaller Decorations, with the one on the left being the Green Hill, which is available for 2 FV Cash, and the piece on the right being the Narcissus Hood, a small decorative flower available for 5,000 Coins. The Green Hill is incredibly straight-forward in its delivery, and we think it is ridiculous that it cannot be neither rotated nor purchased for Coins. It’s a little too bulky for our taste, anyway. The Narcissus Hood however is a lovely touch to the casual farm in need of floral assistance. Feel free to spruce up the place by planting these little dandies along your land.

And here’s where things get a little Stonehenge-y. There are six different pieces in this collection, titled Stone Piece I through VI, and they are in order in the picture above. Stone Pieces I and II are available for 8,000 Coins, while Stone Pieces III through VI is available for 10,000 Coins. This Stone Piece collection is actually really cool, offering farmers with a nice way to give life and originality to their farm on a budget. Each piece is unique and can be rotated, offering a ton of variety at a fraction of the cost of most items.

How-to: Spring Garden

Spring has sprung! Well, not for everybody, but if Zynga waited for the whole Nation to heat up, we’d be waiting a long, long time. Still, this crappy winter is almost behind us, and the flowers are officially in bloom for Zynga’s first event for its upcoming spring theme. Here is the How-to on the new Spring Garden!

Step 1: You will be in placement mode upon logging into FarmVille today if you happen to see the above picture on your screen. This will place some the relatively large – at least by comparison of the previous collectible item Buildings in the past several months – Spring Garden, a new Building that will begin giving you Flowers upon being built. These Flowers will be used to trade in and redeem various different goodies for the upcoming Spring theme; think of the Spring Garden like the Leprechaun’s Cottage from the St. Patrick’s Day theme, and think of the Flowers as if they are Gold pieces.

Step 2: Click “Look Inside” and you will see a brand new type of construction menu compared to previous outings, and we definitely approve. As you can see, you can freely click on the “Use” button below any of the materials to use what is in your inbox instead of sifting through them individually. The first set to initially build the Spring Garden will require the usual nucleus of Bricks, Boards, and Nails – four of each, to be precise.

Step 3: If you are having trouble receiving certain materials, try asking your friends for more through the Look Inside page. You can additionally send your friends materials or Special Delivery Boxes, which will contain several of the items you need; by sending them to your friends, you are much more likely to receive some back. A whopping 16 parts per upgrade is in place for this second installment of the Spring Garden, so expect an entirely-too-beefy amount of parts used for this one.

Step 4: The final expansion of the Spring Garden is a whopping 30 parts per slot, meaning it will require 90 total parts in the final phase of the building process. We were ticked when we found out that there was no awesome 500 Item redemption in the St. Patrick’s Day event, as there was previously with the Winter Holiday and Valentine’s Day events, mainly because we poured well over 100 parts into building the Leprechaun’s Cottage for nothing. Considering all this Building will likely do is produce Flowers (the redeemable item that you trade in for Spring goodies), might we recommend building this Spring Garden up to this point and instead asking your neighbors for Flowers from the Free Gifts page, as seen above, instead?
