New Items: Misty Lake, Black Knight Gnome, and More

Author Major Category , , , ,

To conclude the new Market items tonight, let’s take a look at the new Decorations before wrapping up our coverage with the Best Of Mystery Game!

null

Let us begin with the most expensive option exclusively under the Decorations tab tonight in the Misty Lake. This is one of the better Decorations to surface throughout FarmVille in recent memory. We’re fans of beds of water for our personal farm, so we’re slightly bias in calling this one original; sure, it is a relatively plain lake, what with the usual fare surrounding the water itself in trees, rocks, shrubs, etcetera, but the cool thing that pictures cannot convey is how sleek the fog looks as it lingers over the water, shuffling back and forth. This is a great Decoration for 18 FV Cash, but features no rotation due to the cool animation. It’ll give you 1,800 EXP upon purchase.

Elsewhere on the FV Cash front is a new addition to the Gnome collection, albeit one that is of the painted-over variety. Everybody knows and loves the Knight Gnome, but this one is his dark brethren in the Black Knight Gnome, a legendary warrior who is both feared and revered amongst his peers. Lots of rhymes aside, we do enjoy this paint job of a Gnome. It costs 15 FV Cash, and is definitely worth it if you’re a Gnome collector. After all, who doesn’t love the black knight?

This is the premium Coin item of this Sunday’s update on the Decorations, the Court Yard Fountain. It may seem like a trivial complaint, but we feel as if the animation of the rolling water from the fountain looks a little off; we like the actual design of the water, which looks cloudy due to the concrete fountain’s interior, but it seems a little fake when it’s in motion. Still, the design looks vintage English with the stone lions overlooking the flowing waters. It costs 120,000 Coins and gives the user 1,200 EXP for the purchase.

To conclude the Decorations tab, we will take a look at both a new awesome Coin item and a great new fence. To start, the Castle Wall is the perfect gating to house in anything Castle-related, or even your Home farm’s normal look, if you’re adamantly against the inclusion of ivy or any type of moss growing on the fencing. It’s clean, it’s gorgeous, and it’s 10,000 Coins per slice. As for the Lion Stature, it is the perfect complement to the many free Quest statues that you receive during your English Countryside questing adventures. Might we recommend placing it alongside a museum-type of Building? It costs 50,000 Coins, so the option to place multiples on your farm is certainly there.

The Mystery Game review is coming up!

New Items: Black Swan Lake, Enchanted Tree, and More

Author Major Category , ,

More Decorations have hit FarmVille! It’s time to dig in for another week of awesome Fairy Tale theme goodies; we have to admit, this has been one of our all-time favorite themes.

null

First up is the Black Swan Lake, which could obviously be a reference to the Academy Awards from Sunday night, where Natalie Portman won Best Actress for the controversial role in Black Swan, which revolves around the ballet… you guessed it, Swan Lake; hence, Black Swan Lake. Or we could just be reading entirely too much into this and it could just be a cool way to showcase the rarest Duck Pond Ducks.

Either way, this one is certainly interesting, as it features the Black Swan, one of our favorite new Ducks to come out of the Duck Pond, floating in the center of an elegant lake, surrounded by gazebos, mossy rocks along the “shore,” as well as several brightly-colored trees. This one features slight animation, as the Black Swan floats adrift while the water wavers from droplets along the shoreline. It costs 20 FV Cash, which is a little too steep in our opinion. It will give you 2,000 EXP.

Okay, things just got a little weirder in FarmVille. This is the Enchanted Tree, and just based on the Market window and our picture above, you cannot see the strange, jerking animations that this one contains. You see, the Enchanted Tree is an actual living, breathing, sentient… uh… tree-thing-person. If you look closely, you can see its face, which contains a bulbous nose and puffy cheeks.

For all of you gamers out there, this reminds us of Mortal Kombat II, the old arcade game that caught the hubbub of many parents. Take a look:

See? Who knew that FarmVille would look to Mortal Kombat for a little inspiration. Let’s certainly hope that the Gnomes do not get into a fight; the last thing we need is a little gruesome mess to clean up next to our Sun Poppies!

We cannot decide if this one teeters over the “clever/creepy” line, as it is a very thin line indeed; we will lean towards “clever,” and let’s be honest, it is because of the price; at 5 FV Cash, how can you go wrong?

This is the Magic Fairy Ring, an animated Decoration that features a large beam of light shining down from the right side on a circular pattern of mushrooms, where fireflies, lightning bugs, or straight-up pixies flutter around in plain sight. This Decoration cannot be rotated due to its animation, which we strongly approve of, and it is yet another great Decoration available for Coins, clocking in at 100,000 Coins and giving you 1,000 EXP for the purchase. This is a fun Decoration that really catches the eye and doesn’t take up a ton of space.

null

Mirror, mirror, in the air, who is the one with receding hair? Hey! That’s not cool, dude. This smart-alecky mirror is dubbed the Magic Mirror, and it is more or less a must-have for two reasons: first off, it is an entirely unique Decoration that is unlike any other, in that it has a cool design with even cooler animations as it bobs up and down, showcasing some interesting spiral effects in the mirror itself. Secondly, the cost: it is only 30,000 Coins, making it affordable for even novice farmers. It will only give you 300 EXP, but what did you expect at that price?

In summation, another great week for the Market, as the Decorations continue to steal the spotlight from the Trees, Animals, and more.

New Items: Black Dragon and Granny Wolf

Author Major Category , , ,

A pair of new Animals has hit the Market tonight, so let’s hop right to it!

null

It seems we have hit a fork in the road in reviewing the Black Dragon, the latest and easily coolest option on the Market’s Animals tab. You see, we are not fans of simple “re-colors” of the Animals in FarmVille; we do not go crazy every time we see a new Horse that looks like one of the many common models, and find that is often the laziest waste of the art team’s talents at Zynga. But what happens when the new version of an old Animal comes out and it is vastly better than its predecessor?

That is the problem we are facing with the Black Dragon, which is a paint job of the Baby Dragon from the Harry Potter-esque theme from back in November. The Baby Dragon is smaller and mainly red in color, as to where the Black Dragon is solid and off-black with glorious neon green scales running along its spine; it is truly a magnificent creature. As much as we hate paint jobs, we do believe in improving upon items, which is why we vote, in strong confidence, in favor of purchasing the Black Dragon for 24 FV Cash; simply put, it is the best Animal the Market has seen in ages.

null

Ahh, yes, here is the counterpart to the Ridinghood Sheep from last week: the Granny Wolf. This little critter will howl at the moon all it wants in order to lure the innocent Ridinghood Sheep into its treacherous trap of pretending to be its grandmother, but let’s face it, if you fall for a wolf dressed up like one of your own species, you kind of deserve whatever’s coming to you, right? The Granny Wolf is certainly cute, but make sure to complete the set with the Ridinghood Sheep if you take the plunge for 16 FV Cash; otherwise, it is sort of like a punchline without a set-up to the joke, yeah?

How do you feel about the Black Dragon? Are you torn, as we are?

New Items: Black Beauty Horse and Invisible Cat

Author Major Category , , , ,

Howdy gang! Apologies for the late update tonight, as we know you are used to our on-the-second updates, but we were caught in a bit of a tornado festival – yes, it was as scary as it sounds. But we’re all safe and sound with our power returned and no worse for wear! We will get through this a little speedier than usual, given the circumstances, but be sure to stay tuned to FarmVille Post throughout the week for non-tornado-interrupted coverage of all-things FarmVille!

null

On the Animal Market tonight, we have a brand new Horse that was teased before the weekend commenced, and it now has a proper name to go along with its gorgeous appearance: the Black Beauty Horse. What a fitting name, as this is one tremendous Horse, featuring a lean, sturdy figure that somewhat resembles that of a Stallion. This new Horse is 26 FV Cash, which is a little on the steep side, but we are happy with our purchase. It shares the same mane of the Forest Horse, which we are a little tired of seeing, but this one is different enough. It also has its own Foal, too.

The other item of the night is a previously released one that was part of one of, if not the first, movie promotional tie-ins with Alice in Wonderland. The feline is dubbed the Invisible Cat, but it’s rather obvious that it is the Cheshire Cat, the dastardly fiendish feline in the harrowing fantasy adventure. This “double dip” to the Animal Market costs 22 FV Cash.

Stay tuned, as we will quickly run down the remainder of tonight’s items – before the electricity goes back out. Eep!
